The Sociedad Benéfica Pro-Emigrantes Españoles en la República Dominicana, known as LA BENÉFICA, is a nonprofit institution founded on December 14, 1982, by a group of Spanish residents in the country.
It was born from hearts of solidarity with the mission of welcoming those emigrants who lacked the resources to sustain themselves or could not return to Spain. La Benéfica is run by the Sisters of the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts, who lovingly care for a group of Spanish and Dominican elderly, giving them a space to live their golden years with the fullest dignity.
A committed Board of Directors ensures the institution functions well and that these grandparents — whom we lovingly call Our Grandparents — live surrounded by affection and respect, knowing they have a place called home.
